Day Five

Day 5 was amazing.  God provided some very unique opportunities to serve Him and the people in LA today.  We started off at Union Rescue Mission LA, where the students led the chapel service.  It was a powerful time of worship.  We then departed for various ministry outreach sites once again. Today included assisting with building renovations, landscaping, & preparing our “box cars.”  We also had several groups once again assisting with very creative “random acts of kindness / generosity” as a selfless way of serving the city.  These included free donut / free water bottle giveaways, and free family portraits.  We also assisted Story City Church with a very creative act of generosity called “gas buy-down,” where we gathered at a gas station and the ministry “bought down” the cost of fuel (paid the difference) to $1.99/gallon until a maximum designated number of gallons was sold…and as you can imagine the line wrapped around the building!  These creative acts of generosity had a tremendous impact on the recipients.   You can see some of their reactions by glancing through social media at the hashtag  #BetterTogetherLA.

Our day of ministry continued with a concert and block party at the Dream Center.  Everyone had a blast.  We finished with the long-awaited “box car” drive in movie– a super creative outreach where the kids decorate boxes to look like cars and then grab a snack and sit in their “cars” to watch a movie on an outdoor screen.

Our students concluded the night with the graduating Seniors enjoying dinner and fellowship together while the up-coming Senior class of 2017 led the rest of the group in an evening worship service, prayer, and challenge for the up-coming year.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support.  To God be the glory, great things HE has done!!
